Living Mindfully

The practice of mindfulness is ancient. 2600 years ago, it was an integral part of Shakyamuni Buddha’s teaching. As a teacher, the Buddha taught that living mindfully was a path to freedom and peace. Luckily this teaching did not remain in the East but was brought to the West by some fantastic practitioners turned teachers. Now we have practices such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, that can assist us in developing a mindfulness practice and ultimately living a mindful life. It is also through MBSR that many people find their way to the Dharma (the Buddha’s teachings on peace and liberation).

I have been practicing mindfulness and following the Dharma since 2008. My journey began with an 8-week class in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. Without hyperbole, I can honestly say that this course changed my life. As I began practicing mindfulness, I quickly noticed a reduction in my own reactivity. In addition, more equanimity developed, and my own heart began opening to others and to life in ways that I had not experienced. As my practice continued and these changes strengthened, I began to ask the question, “is there more?” This is when I turned to the teachings of the Buddha. Studying with Buddhist teachers, I began walking/living the Noble Eightfold Path. Living a life of integrity, wisdom, and compassion is now what I try and cultivate every day. The Dharma is my north star.

I experience great joy in assisting others on their journey. Whether you are interested in diving deeper into the dharma or keeping your journey to one of mindfulness, if you are interested in instruction or mentoring, please be in touch. I would love to accompany you on your journey.

Mindfulness informs us about the mind and the nature of human suffering. It has research-based applications to address mental and physical health problems.
